Fictional tweets include: “Defendant X murder trial opens with grim details of mall killing.” “Judge’s pretrial rulings keeps out evidence of defendant’s prior violent acts.” “1st witness heard repeated pops, a scream, then saw blood oozing from security guard.” “Pathologist says guard’s body riddled with bullets; death instantaneous.”

Described by some as “Haiku journalism,” the 140-character limit of Twitter messages such as the fictional examples below, may seem to provide only short-script descriptions of legal events, but these abbreviated statements are beginning to impact court systems.
