Throughout November and December, most agencies of the Office of Judicial Administration moved from the 30 South Meridian offices and began working at Capital Center on North Illinois Street.
By December 11th all the offices from 30 South were relocated to Capital Center North. The move was the culmination of two years of work in studying whether a move should occur, and then implementing the move. The new offices align with the transition of the agencies that also occurred about two years ago. For the first time, each newly aligned agency has all of its staff housed together.
Just as the Court implemented e-filing for litigation, the Court has championed all its agencies moving from paper to online record keeping. To prepare for the move, the office has been scanning all important records and destroying paper copies. We have already shredded 40,000 pounds of paper and are still culling our files for what can be scanned and destroyed. This has a practical cost-saving effect of reducing the space which must be rented for storage.
There are thousands of details to complete in a large office move. While saving the Court money, all the work that had to be done has served the economy well. The transfer of technology equipment required the use of four different vendors, each with a distinct function. We are grateful for our employees, all who have each stepped up to help make this transition as easy as possible.
