Since December 2007 when Odyssey – the statewide court case management system – was first deployed to the courts in Monroe County and Washington Township, Court Technology has worked to develop various interfaces between Odyssey and other data systems.
This work was done in an effort to improve the completeness and accuracy of shared information and to eliminate the need for users to enter the same data into multiple systems.
Court Technology has installed Odyssey in 243 courts in 55 counties. Delaware County trial courts are the most recent addition to this list, joining the Odyssey family of users on April 4th.
In addition to deploying Odyssey throughout the state, Court Technology has developed many discreet software applications in a framework called INcite (Indiana Courts Information Technology Extranet).
Since 2005, more than thirty applications allow 35,000 users in federal, state, and local agencies to share information. The applications are used by trial courts, clerks, probation officers, law enforcement, state and federal agencies, and victim advocates.
Today, Odyssey interfaces with multiple INcite applications as well as applications maintained by other agencies as described to the right.
On the front end
Indiana Prosecutor Case Management System (INPCMS) – Prosecutors initiate criminal cases through the integration developed for Odyssey and the prosecutor case management system.
After the case is created, case updates flow back to INPCMS.
e-tickets – Data from over 350 law enforcement agencies using e-ticket software developed by Court Technology electronically file ordinance and infraction tickets to Odyssey for courts and clerks.
Statewide E-Filing System – Case initiation and subsequent filings can be transmitted from the new statewide e-filing system to Odyssey.
On the back end
Criminal History Reporting Information System – Odyssey courts that implement this interface are able to send disposition information for all criminal cases electronically to the state’s criminal history repository maintained by the Indiana State Police.
Mental Health Adjudication Reporting – When a judge enters a qualifying mental health finding in Odyssey, the appropriate information is sent electronically through INcite to the FBI.
Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) – Events in Odyssey trigger sending suspension and conviction information electronically to the BMV through INcite for all traffic cases.
Abstract of Judgment – An Abstract must be completed for every felony conviction. Information to populate parts of the Abstract can be imported from Odyssey.
1099 Reports – An INcite application that allows clerks to import data from Odyssey into INcite in order to issue a 1099.
And everything in-between
Protection Order Registry (POR) – No-contact and protection orders are created by a judge in the POR. The POR is utilized to send this information to Odyssey and to the Indiana Data and Communication System (IDACS) at Indiana State Police.
Guardianship Registry – Information that is entered in the Guardianship Registry is sent automatically to Odyssey and entered on the Chronological Case Summary.
Auditor Report of Collections – Due in December and June, clerks using Odyssey can import remittance information for money due the state to the required form housed in INcite.
Court Improvement Project Timeliness Measures – Data for required reports for Juvenile CHINS and Juvenile Parental Termination cases can be imported directly from Odyssey.
Odyssey Court Measures – An application in INcite that pulls data from Odyssey in real time and allows judges to review the following measures: average age of pending cases; time to disposition; and, clearance rates.
Public Defender Information System (PDIS) – This is an application developed for public defender offices in INcite. PDIS pulls case and financial data directly from Odyssey so that Public Defender Offices can better manage and track the cases assigned to them.
CMS Search – An application developed in INcite that can search multiple case management systems.
CMS Search is available for searches on both Odyssey and the juvenile QUEST case management system.
ICOR – With the click of a button, statistical data from Odyssey may be imported into the quarterly reports application in INcite.
