The Division of State Court Administration (Division) Court Technology staff reports another breakthrough in reporting quarterly statistics. Indiana trial courts may now utilize Odyssey—the statewide case management system—to create, complete and file these reports.
Long gone are the days of completing quarterly court statistics on paper and mailing that information to the Division. Court Technology staff developed an online submission platform, built in 2006, that allowed courts to submit their quarterly reports through their computers using ICOR (Indiana Courts Online Reports).
This application allowed courts to submit quarterly and annual reports in a consistent and concise manner. This platform worked well until internet browsers required frequent updates and report preparers began to notice data entry and printing issues with older browsers.
In 2013, Court Technology moved ICOR to a new platform within INcite which fixed all of the issues associated with multiple browser usage. This was not an easy task, which required re-building the application. The new platform allows for upgrades such as new browsers, new case types, and additional quarterly information sought by the Supreme Court.
Court Technology is in the process of installing Odyssey in every court in Indiana.
When the Legislature created six new felony levels, which became effective in July 2014, Court Technology set out again to improve the existing platform. Staff added the six new felony levels, and as a boost to current Odyssey court users, added a new feature that allows quarterly case statistics to be imported from Odyssey directly into ICOR.
With the click of a button, incoming cases, outgoing cases, and disposition case totals all may be imported into the quarterly reports. Court personnel need only confirm the data and make any necessary adjustments by reviewing the detail summary documents in Odyssey. This new feature is a definite time-saver for the courts.
