Jane A. Seigel, Executive Director of the Indiana Judicial Center, received her certificate of graduation as one of only 10 participants in the Class of 2012-2013 from the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s JDAI Applied Leadership Network. The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) was designed to support the Casey Foundation’s vision that all youth involved in the juvenile justice system have opportunities to develop into healthy, productive adults. Effective and influential leaders are needed to carry forward the work of JDAI. To that end, JDAI established the Applied Leadership Network (ALN) as a vehicle to enhance knowledge, skills, and capabilities of key individuals now working within JDAI sites. After more than 20 years of innovation and replication, JDAI is one of the nation’s most effective, influential, and widespread juvenile justice system reform initiatives. Since its inception in 1992, JDAI has repeatedly demonstrated that jurisdictions can safely reduce reliance on secure detention. There are now approximately 190 JDAI sites in 39 states, which include Indiana, and the District of Columbia.
