Cindy Houseman, Tippecanoe County Court Services Director, has been selected by the Greater Lafayette YWCA as a “Woman of Distinction” for 2013. She was recognized at an award ceremony held on March 5, 2013 for her selfless commitment to community service and her willingness to meaningfully participate when asked and by showing what community involvement and leadership can accomplish. Cindy is the adult child of two alcoholic parents. At a young age, Cindy chose not to be a victim and attended Al-Ateen, worked the 12 Step program, and progressed to Al-Anon as she became old enough. Cindy was instrumental in the implementation of the Tippecanoe County Adult Drug Court program. She continues to have an Al-Anon sponsor and also sponsors newcomers. Cindy currently serves on the Community Transition Board, Ivy Tech Human Services Advisory Board and the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy (LARA) Work One Board. Cindy continually proves how one individual can make a difference in the lives of others and the greater community.
