The Indiana Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program (JLAP) announced that Loretta Oleksy has joined JLAP as a Clinical Case Manager. Loretta comes from the Division of State Court Administration, where she worked as Domestic Violence Resource Attorney and previously as the Family Court Project Manager. Loretta looks forward to drawing on her social work and law backgrounds to help members of the bench and bar address issues that impact their lives and their practice of law.
Lake County Juvenile Court Judge Mary Beth Bonaventura was appointed by Governor Mike Pence to head Indiana’s Department of Child Services (DCS), the department that oversees the investigation of child abuse and neglect. The Governor praised Judge Bonaventura as “uniquely qualified” to head DCS. She was first appointed to the bench by Governor Evan Bayh in 1993.
Robyn L. Moberly, Marion Superior Court Judge for 15 years, was appointed as the first female bankruptcy judge in the Southern District. She began a 14-year term on the bankruptcy court in November 2012, replacing Chief Judge Anthony Metz III, who was also a Marion Superior Court Judge prior to his appointment to the federal bench. Judge Moberly joins two former Marion Superior Court colleagues recently appointed to the federal bench in the Southern District, Jane Magnus-Stinson and Tanya Walton Pratt.
