February 29, 2008

Judge Stahl of Texas, Co-Chair of the Judicial Council; Judge Arredondo of Indiana; Jimmie V. Reyna of Washington, D.C., President, HNBA; and Judge Cota of Arizona, Co-Chair of the Judicial Council.

The Honorable Lorenzo Arredondo, Judge of the Lake Circuit Court, has been awarded the Lincoln-Juarez Award by the Hispanic National Bar Association.  The Award is named after two legal legends whose legacies include a strong dedication to fairness and equality and were contemporaries: President Abraham Lincoln and President Benito Juarez.  Both were leaders in the legal profession and were committed to a lifelong struggle against injustice.
This honor is the most prestigious recognition awarded by the Association.  The award is not often given.  It has only been awarded five times in the Association’s 35-year history.
The Lincoln-Juarez Award is bestowed to an individual with outstanding achievements in the legal profession.  For over 30 years, Judge Arredondo has tirelessly served his community and the legal profession and is one of the founders of the Hispanic National Bar Association.
This recognition is given to express the gratitude the Association demonstrates to Judge Arredondo for his lifelong passion and commitement to justice, fairness, and equality under the rule of law.
